We flew into Sydney and, only getting a teasing glimpse, we drove off to the Blue Mountains.
We are staying in Wentworth (no golf) and have a nice wooden deck with a view for meals. Nice to see David able to cook again!

We met the neighbours

The next morning we packed our picnic and headed off on a 14km walk to find out what these blue mountains are all about.

It is dull today but pleasant walking weather, a bit windy & not many other people except near the falls and carpark
There are lovely views

Lots of steps – we counted 542 steps back up! And that’s only half way down to the valley floor!

These steps down to Wentworth Falls were hewn into the cliff face 100 years ago (1908) to make scenic walks to attract tourists. They were renovated in 2008.

The waterfall was tall but not spectacular

Unfortunately the path through the valley is closed because of a rock fall. But we enjoyed all the wonderful views and the overhangs

We also walked down to Empress falls for our picnic

More steps!

As we follow Spring around Australia there are lots of pretty flowers

We saw 2 lyrebirds pecking around like brown chickens with very long bushy tails. Not a great photo – sorry

Lots of tiny thorn-bills flitting around too.
We made it back for a lovely cup of tea and I’m looking forward to David’s next dinner tonight! If I had stepped back in this photo I would have gone down about 200m.

We have also caught up on our washing!

This is great especially the last photo very beautiful smiles
