Into the Rainforest

A swim in the morning made it easier to tear ourselves away from newfound civilisation and we headed up to the Daintree Rainforest via the chain car ferry accross the crocodile infested Daintree River.

We were advised to stop at Mossman gorge on the way but it was touristy and unless you wanted to swim in the pools probably not a must do. We did enjoy our first short walk in the rainforest though.

We also stopped further up for a longer walk where there had been cassowary sightings but we didn’t see one. Probably just as well as they can be aggressive.

We did see a brush turkey and a little Pita bird on the forest floor.

Mostly you hear the birds but can’t see them!

We arrived at our fruit-farm stay at Cape Tribulation and were welcomed by trees full of rainbow lorikeets.

  1. Lovely to have the blog back. Some of the last two looked very familiar. You are now further north than we went. Think of poor Cook mending his boat!
