We enjoyed a decent 22km walk today.
We started with pleasant coastal views – up and down undulations very like Devon. There are brambles (they are trying to get rid of them – good luck!) among the hedges & I’m sure there was some hawthorn in the bracken.

We saw blackbirds sparrows and superb fairy wrens on the path and white faced herons on the shore.

After Shelly Beach the path went inland and we counted 12 koalas high up in the trees – several mothers with babies and some were moving. Far too high to photo I’m afraid, but here are some spring flowers:

Later we passed through a vast untouched forest with huge eucalyptus with red bark like sequoias. This is a temperate rain forest and has never been felled.

Then we glimpsed the sea again and came out in Blanket Bay.

While waiting for the only taxi in Apollo Bay we saw a little face only 15 feet up: a very sweet baby koala who then climbed up to his mum.

We also saw a blue-tongued lizard

A good walk in a very acceptable temperature
