The last time we saw Annie was 20 years ago! It was wonderful to see her again and meet Mika for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Mika has a familiar haircut and I know she will get on very well with my girls. They have the barking owl here and that is what it does: Woof woof!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" title=\"11\/9\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/BIRU-WP-20181109T221827GMT1100.jpg\" alt=\"11\/9\/18\" width=\"853\" height=\"1138\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is a bush-stone curlew &#8211; I have seen some around Cairns- they make a very loud screaming racket if upset!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"11\/9\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/BIRU-WP-20181109T214714GMT1100-1152x1536.jpg\" alt=\"11\/9\/18\" width=\"1152\" height=\"1536\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The volunteer who showed us round was very knowledgeable and very pleased all the animals were so active and interesting. I thoroughly recommend a night visit to animals if it\u2019s available!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"Pearcedale \/ VIC \/ Australia - 11\/9\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/BIRU-WP-20181109T204544GMT1100-1536x1152.jpg\" alt=\"Pearcedale \/ VIC \/ Australia - 11\/9\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went back to Annie\u2019s for Mika\u2019s lovely pavlova.
