There are amazing shapes made by salt pans and dried out river beds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T121108GMT0930-1536x1097.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1097\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T131656GMT0930-1536x1152.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is the build-up to the rainy season in Darwin now and we saw the huge clouds winding up<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T133833GMT0930-1316x1536.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1316\" height=\"1536\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Arriving in Darwin we were greeted by a blast of hot tropical air laden with that heavy moisture we felt in Singapore. We picked up another enormous car and drove to our hotel.<\/p>\n<p>We have a lovely view of the empty beach and empty sea. A sign warns of box jellyfish and says : don\u2019t swim. There are also crocodiles.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T184940GMT0930-1536x931.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"931\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately the hotel thought to make its own beach!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T173636GMT0930-1536x1152.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"1152\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed this huge wonderful crocodile painting at Darwin airport evoking the ancient spirits of the Dreamtime:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T135721GMT0930-1536x419.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1536\" height=\"419\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>David, however seems to be communing with the spirit of Dame Edna Everidge:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large\" title=\"10\/19\/18\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.holloway.me.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/BIRU-WP-20181019T184827GMT0930-1089x1536.jpg\" alt=\"10\/19\/18\" width=\"1089\" height=\"1536\" data-json=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We relaxed today and noticed very different birds already including many long legged masked lapwing complete with hanging yellow wattles on its cheeks.
