After a rather warm muggy night I was up to see the sunrise (around 6am) on our very private billabong. The full moon hadn\u2019t set yet and gave a serene reflection in the calm water.<\/p>\n

I forgot to mention yesterday that when it got dark we shone our torch into the edges of the water and distinctly saw the white eye reflection of 3 crocodiles – one on either side and one opposite.<\/p>\n

At night you have to take care as we are sleeping one floor up on our house boat – quite disorientating and not a good time to sleepwalk.<\/p>\n

There was the obligatory morning crocodile<\/p>\n

And gorgeous lilies<\/p>\n

When we dropped off the house-boat we heard one of the $10,000 barramundi had been caught where we had been at Yellow Water in Kakadu, but they hadn\u2019t noticed and popped it in the freezer.<\/p>\n

An easy drive to Darwin & on the marginally delayed plane to Cairns. They were very friendly at the car hire – maybe they can see how much we are spending \ud83d\ude09 – we were given an upgrade to a proper 4×4 and coupons for the Daintree ferry. Just as well as we can\u2019t contemplate driving anything smaller than a small truck nowadays!<\/p>\n

We drove a short scenic (think Amalfi coast without the cliffs) drive to Port Douglas, coping with other cars on the road (!) and arrived at \u2018By the sea\u2019 – excellent accommodation right at the end of Four Mile Beach.<\/p>\n

David\u2019s hat is becoming more Worzel Gummage and less Crocodile Dundee by the day<\/p>\n

Suddenly we are in a tropical paradise and civilisation- very bijoux here.<\/p>\n
